June 12th Second Thursday!
Well the summer's really here now, and how better to celebrate than to get out there and walk around Old Town Alexandria, soaking in the rich architecture while checking out the local art, shops and restaurants.
It seems Second Thursday Art Night Gallery Hop has some pretty cool events lined up this time around! Participating locations (and links to their websites) are listed on the right side of this page, and more specific info is located in the list a bit further down the page.
Some especially cool sounding happenings are:
Live music and free popcorn in Market Square!
6-9pm
Featuring The Right Nows

If you haven't heard their soulful, folk sound, you can check it out on their myspace page, here:
http://www.myspace.com/rightnows
Also pretty awesome sounding is the Athenaeum's Summer Concert Series featuring Madeline MacNeil @ 7PM.
This one has a cover, $10 at the door, and you can find more details here:
http://www.nvfaa.org/
And of course, Doggie Happy Hour at Hotel Monaco is always super fun.
Here's a funny Wash Post review of that event:

Rain, Rain GO AWAY... May 8th Event postponed
Due to the projected thunderstorms this evening, we have decided to postpone the outdoor portion of tonight's gallery hop (the band and free popcorn in Market Square) until next month's event. The 5% discounts will still be valid for people who wish to use them, but we are not going to be able to do outdoor music and info table this time around.
I suppose we did need the rain!
